Prayer

Bible-based prayers for yourself & others

I ask You, the glorious Father of my Lord Jesus Christ, to give me spiritual wisdomand insight so that I might grow in my knowledge of God. I pray that my heart will be flooded with light so that I can understand the confident hope You have given to those You called—Your holy people who are Your rich and glorious inheritance. I also pray that I will understand the incredible greatness of Your power for us who believe You.

This is the same mighty powerthat raised Christ from the dead and seated Him in the place of honor at Your right hand in the heavenly realms. Now He is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come. You, God, have put all things under the authority of Christ and have made Him head over all things for the benefit of the church. And the church is His body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with Himself. (Based on Ephesians 1:17-23, NLT)

I pray to You, Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from Your glorious, unlimited resources You will empower me with inner strength through Your Spirit. Then Christ will make His home in my heart as I trust in Him. My roots will grow down into God’s love and keep me strong. And may I have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May I experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully.

Then I will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from You. Now all glory to You, God. You are able, through Your mighty power at work within me, to accomplish infinitely more than I might ask or think. Glory to You in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen. (Based   on Ephesians 3:14-21, NLT)

I ask You, God, to give me complete knowledge of Your will and to give me spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way I live will always honor and please You, Lord, and my life will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, I will grow as I learn to know God better and better. I also pray that I will be strengthened with all Your glorious power so I will have all the endurance and patience I need. May I be filled with joy, always thanking You, Father. You have enabled me to share in the inheritance that belongs to Your people who live in the light. (Based on Colossians 1:9-12, NLT)

SALVATION - MADE NEW

Have you made a decision to follow Jesus? Congratulations! It is the best decision of your life. Here are a few scriptures that explain the amazing step you just took:

John 3:16 (NIV) "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." God showed His love for you by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for your sins. When you believe in Jesus as your Savior, you are given eternal life.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT) "This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!" God loves you so much that He gives you the free gift of a new life. It's His grace and unearned favor with Him that saves us from our sin even though we don't deserve it.

Romans 10:9-10 (NLT) "For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved." When you confessed Jesus as your Lord, you said you want Him to be the leader of your life.

BIBLE-BASED PRAYERS FOR YOURSELF & OTHERS

Father of glory, I pray that you give unto me the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You: The eyes of my understanding being enlightened; that I may know what is the hope of Your calling, and what the riches of the glory of Your inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of Your power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of Your mighty power, Which You wrought in Christ, when You raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

Ephesians 1:17-23

And I also bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That you would grant me, according to the riches of Your glory, to be strengthened with might by Your Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in my heart by faith; that I, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that I might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto You Who are able to do exceeding abundantly above all that I ask or think, according to the power that worketh in me, To You be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end.

Ephesians 3:14-21

And I also pray and desire that I might be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That I might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to Your glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; Giving thanks unto You Father, Who hath made me meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light.

Colossians 1:9-12
